Violance in film

in our lecture we talked about graphic scenes within games, films, books, etc. we discussed if violance in a medium can influence a person to become violent. violance has been in films for decades, i personally dont think this can influance people. just because we saw a man in a film kill some one doesnt make us do it. although accurances have happend where people have thought to be influenced by violance in a film or game an example from this is one of the boys from the Columbine shootings the boy apparantly was a heavy gamer on DOOM he was previously banned from playing the game which people thought that was the reason of his actions.

although i disagree that DOOM was the influance of the killing however in games we cant die, we kill then kill, thenn die and then get respawnd, in a sence we are gods in our game we do what we desire, with no care or consiquence. the boy from the killing might have had a mental illness or was instable and the thought of not being able to play the game he wants outraged him, he could have thought u was god himself who can take life by his hand.

We also discussed the different types of violence and how we react to them for example in cartoons there is violance called slapstick a good use of this would be looney tunes this violance is different the characters from Looney Tunes never die and usually go back to the normal and unharmd state after a fight for instanfe. we all have our limits and judge things differently compared to what we have seen previously, this is different between people, a person might have had a violance time in his past and is used to it and by watching the film he is completly unnerved by this. on the other hand age has a massive effect on how violance is percieved, to make things simple u wouldnt put a 7 year old ina saw film as they are not used to this kind of violance.
